Ferrari Challenge(s) D.O.T

D.O.T recently had the pleasure of moving a number of the teams for the "Finali Mondiali - Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli". The event took place on the 6th December at the cutting edge Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit.

D.O.T was ultimately responsible for the movement of five race cars and spares for Baron Racing, Saggio Racing, Lueg Sportivo and Gohm Racing. The movement involved shipping the cars using our bespoke seafreight container racking systems, from Europe and Istanbul and onwards to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the return seafreight movement directly back to Germany.

D.O.T had logistics specialists from its 'Vehicle Management Division' on hand at all points of the movement to ensure the correct handling of these mighty 'Prancing horses'.

On arrival in the United Arab Emirates it was D.O.T's new office in Dubai that handled the customs clearance and final positioning of the containers and their precious cargo to the Yas Marina Circuit where three experienced D.O.T car handlers oversaw the unloading of the vehicles and spares and the handing over to the teams.

All in all the race weekend was a huge success with what can only be described as a celebration of all things Ferrari taking place. Apart from the Ferrari Challenge there were more than 200 Ferraris from different eras that stampeded onto the track, parading the circuit for all the fans to see the very best demonstration of what Ferrari stands for; classic Italian design flare and leading edge design and technology.

The weekend culminated in the Ferrari Show, which got underway with two AF Corse team GT cars, driven by WEC champions Gimmi Bruni and Toni Vilander, who were joined on track by Davide Rigon and James Calado. Then it was the turn of the XX Programme cars, specifically the FXX and 599 XX, which were joined by the FXX K, these cars truly had the crowd on the edge of their seats in the grandstands.

The show was brought to a dramatic close by Scuderia drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Marc Gene, who were each at the wheel of an F60, and gave an amazing display to the crowd, including some close wheel to wheel action, pit stops and closing in a cloud of tyre smoke as both drivers did some mighty burn outs.
