The Macau Grand Prix is a unique festival of car and motorcycle racing. The meeting is held over arguably the world’s most challenging street circuit and includes a blue riband Formula 3 race, the final two rounds of the World Touring Car Championship and an invitation motorcycle Grand Prix.
The names of such four and two wheeled heroes as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Kevin Schwantz and Ron Haslam have all been etched into the Macau record books. It is simply one of the greatest motorsport events on the planet.
D.O.T makes no secret of quoting for Macau business since the company’s foundation, and our patience was finally rewarded in 2011. To satisfy the requirement of F3 and motorcycle teams from Britain, Germany, Holland, Portugal and Italy, a Boeing 747 400 was chartered and flown from Liège to Macau with a full load of 26 cars, 23 bikes and 50 tonnes of related equipment.
In addition, three motorcycles were air freighted from Los Angeles, a consignment of F3 tyres sent by sea from Japan and all F3 fuel transported from Europe. All told, a memorable project for D.O.T and for Britain’s Michael ‘The Blade’ Rutter, who won the motorcycle GP for a record seventh time.
